Once again, the Bhartiya Janata Party emerged as a major party by winning 240 seats, followed by the Congress, which secured 99 seats.
The exit
polls, which made certain predictions, should once be thoroughly examined by
all news channels and presented to the public based on the data they relied
upon.
In this
election, even though the BJP did not achieve an absolute majority on its own,
they have secured support for 32 seats from their coalition partners (NDA).
There is no doubt about this. The NDA has reached a total of 292 seats this
time. Naturally, the BJP will approach the President to form the government.
In Narendra Modi's speech yesterday, one thing was noticeable: he repeatedly mentioned the NDA rather than the BJP.
There is no
doubt that the India Alliance will also put in full effort to form the
government. They even have a meeting in Delhi today to discuss how to establish
the government.
There is no
doubt that in the coming days, all the media will continuously provide their
opinions on the topic of who will form the government, 24 hours a day.
A different
and unexpected picture was seen across the entire country.
The NDA has
secured 292 seats, out of which 240 seats have been won by the BJP. These seats
are crucial for the formation of the government. Similar to what happened in
Maharashtra in 2019, the Indian alliance, with the support of Chandra Babu
Naidu and Nitish Kumar, will make efforts for a potential resurgence in 2024.
The Congress winning 99 seats is indeed reassuring, but the significant point is that they have doubled their seat count compared to 2019.
In the 2014
and 2019 elections, the BJP had a complete majority, but the current situation
is a bit different. Now, Narendra Modi may face a challenge because the BJP
does not have a majority. If he is not the Prime Minister of the BJP, then he
will work as the Prime Minister of the NDA.
But this time especially in Maharashtra, a different picture emerged. The success of the Maha Vikas Aghadi is entirely attributed to Uddhav Thackeray and the leaders and workers of the Congress & NCP (Shard Pawar)
The
unexpected victories of Anil Desai (UBT) and Varsha Gaikwad (Congress) are
significant for the Maha Vikas Aghadi. The results in Maharashtra and the
country came out completely opposite to what was expected.
In
Maharashtra, there have been two interesting battles in recent times. Pankaja
Munde faced defeat in her re-election bid, losing by a margin of 7,000 votes.
On the other hand, in Mumbai, Ravindra Waikar emerged victorious, securing 47
seats in the election.
Out of 48
seats in Maharashtra, the MVA won 30 seats, and the MahaYuti will have to be
content with only 18 seats. Now all the members of the MahaYuti will once
again search for reasons, analysing where and how they fell short, and trying
to understand the voting dynamics.
The success
of the Maha Vikas Aghadi is due to the three (SS- UBT, Congress, NPC –SP) parties
coming together and working in a perfectly organized manner. Even the seat
distribution was flawlessly organized, allowing them ample time for
campaigning.
In Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, there has been a significant shift in the political landscape.
Specially in Maharashtra Congress emerged as a major
party, securing victories in 13 constituencies. Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena,
along with its alliance partner, won on 9 seats, highlighting Uddhav
Thackeray's leadership. Sharad Pawar's NCP also made its mark by securing
victories on 8 seats, despite facing challenges from other parties.
The Bhartiya Janata Party needs to engage in some analysis from this election as to why they did not achieve an absolute majority. They should definitely consider why they did not secure a full majority, even though their vote percentage may have increased.
Congress
also needs to take a hard look at themselves as to why they managed to secure
only 99 seats in the end. They should analyse where they fell short and what
steps they need to take for improvement.
At the end
of the day, the most important thing is who forms the government and what
benefits it brings to the common people. As a taxpayer, what will they receive,
what new schemes will the government introduce that will benefit the common
man? These are the questions that any aspiring government must ponder and
articulate their plans accordingly.
